ABRA Membership

Membership Type & Fees

<p class="font_8">Individual membership is for exhibitors who will show in the ABRA open classes, non-amateur classes, or persons whose primary interaction with the Association is for registrations, transfers, etc.</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">Issued to one (1) person and carried in that person’s legal name only.&nbsp;<br>
Memberships must be in the exact name you intend to register horses.</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">Please note you cannot compete in Amateur Classes with this membership. You must have an Amateur Membership to compete in Amateur Classes.</p>

Individual

Individual membership is for exhibitors who are going to show in the ABRA open classes, ABRA Judges, or persons whose primary interaction with the Association is for registrations, transfers, etc.

Membership Type & Fees

<p class="font_8">A person is considered an Amateur Exhibitor by the American Buckskin Registry Association when he or she is no longer eligible to show in ABRA Youth classes, and who has not shown, judged, trained or assisted in training a horse for remuneration, either directly or indirectly, nor received compensation for instructing another person in riding, driving, training or showing a horse in competition for the previous five (5) years.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">Any approved horse show judge is ineligible. Premium money is not to be considered remuneration, but payment of entry fees, expenses, etc., by any person other than the contestant, or the contestant’s father, mother, sister, brother, grandparent, legal guardian or spouse, shall be considered remuneration.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">An Amateur cannot hold membership accreditation in a professional association for those events or classes which are the same events or classes the individual competes or desires to compete, in ABRA amateur competition. For example, a person who competes in a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association roping event, may not compete in Amateur calf roping or dally team roping (heading or heeling), or steer stopping, but may show in any other amateur classes.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">A permit holder is not considered as one who has membership accreditation in any ABRA amateur class. Every rider competing in an Amateur Class must possess a current Amateur card issued by the American Buckskin Registry Association. Show management must inspect this card at any show entered.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="font_8">All annual memberships are based on a calendar year and expire on December 31st of each year.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="font_8">Memberships must be in the exact name in which you intend to register horses.</p>

Amateur

A person is considered an Amateur Exhibitor by the American Buckskin Registry Association when he or she is no longer eligible to show in ABRA Youth classes, and who has not shown, judged, trained or assisted in training a horse for remuneration, either directly or indirectly, nor received compensation for instructing another person in riding, driving, training or showing a horse in competition for the previous five (5) years.

Membership Type & Fees

Amateur Upgrade is available for Individual, Joint or Partnership Members who have a current membership but wish to upgrade to Amateur Status and receive an amateur card to compete in ABRA Amateur Classes.

Membership Type & Fees

<p class="font_8">The purpose of the ABRA Non-Pro division is to provide specific events for the youth and amateur exhibitors to show their equines under the guidelines of the ABRA rulebook.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">Owners and exhibitors in the Non-Pro ABRA classes must be ABRA members in good standing at the time points are earned and shall apply to ABRA for an official ABRA Non-Pro Card to be presented to Show Committees for verification of an exhibitor’s Non-Pro status with ABRA.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">Points earned in Non-Pro Classes will not count towards any other awards, categories or green eligibility. Exhibitor&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8"><u><strong>Eligibility</strong></u></p>
<p class="font_8">The exhibitor must be a Youth or Amateur holding a current ABRA Youth or Amateur card that has completed and submitted an ABRA Non-Pro Designation form that states he/she has <em><strong>NOT within the past three (3) years:&nbsp;</strong></em></p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<ul class="font_8">
  <li><p class="font_8">Shown, trained or assisted in training for remuneration directly or indirectly. Instructed another person in riding, driving, training or showing for remuneration directly or indirectly.&nbsp;</p></li>
</ul>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<ul class="font_8">
  <li><p class="font_8">Judged a horse show for remuneration or been an approved horse show judge of any kind including but not limited to 4/H, breed associations, open shows, etc.(Remuneration is considered any form of compensation directly or indirectly for a service).&nbsp;</p></li>
</ul>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8"><u><strong>Equine Eligibility&nbsp;</strong></u></p>
<ul class="font_8">
  <li><p class="font_8">The equines to be exhibited must be registered with ABRA. Ownership of the equine being shown by the youth/amateur, as evidenced by their ABRA registration papers, must be solely the contestant’s, the contestant’s immediate family including but not limited to, father, mother, step-parent, sister, brother, grandparent, half sibling, step sibling, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, sibling’s spouse, half sibling’s spouse, step sibling’s spouse, or legal guardian or owned by the institution in which the contestant is enrolled as a ward.&nbsp;</p></li>
</ul>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<ul class="font_8">
  <li><p class="font_8">Separate legal entities, such as family corporations, trusts or partnerships, and farm or ranch, are also authorized owners of the Youth or Amateur exhibitor’s equine so long as all legal and equitable owners and beneficiaries of the legal entity are individuals specifically authorized by this rule.&nbsp;</p></li>
</ul>

  <li><p class="font_8">Leased Equine Eligibility Leased equines are eligible to show in non-pro events provided the appropriate lease paperwork has been filed in the ABRA office. Current ABRA membership is required for both the lessee and the owner.&nbsp;</p></li>
</ul>

<ul class="font_8">
  <li><p class="font_8">Only one lease per equine will be recognized at one time. During the term of the lease, only the lessee (and those related to the lessee) may show the equine in ABRA non-pro, amateur and/or youth events.&nbsp;</p></li>
</ul>

  <li><p class="font_8"><strong>Non-Pro Western Pleasure, all ages&nbsp;</strong></p></li>
  <li><p class="font_8"><strong>Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle, all ages&nbsp;</strong></p></li>
</ul>

<p class="font_8">Points earned in Non-Pro Events will not count towards any other awards, categories, or green eligibility as listed in the ABRA Rulebook.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">All Non-Pro Events shall be conducted within the guidelines provided in the ABRA Rulebook for each class by it’s category.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">Only eligible exhibitors holding an official ABRA Non-Pro card will be allowed to compete.</p>

Non-Pro

The purpose of the ABRA Non Pro division is to provide specific events for the youth and amateur exhibitors to show their equines under the guidelines of the ABRA rulebook.

No fee for Non-Pro membership

Membership Type & Fees

<p class="font_8">A youth membership is designated for members under age 19. Horses exhibited by a youth must be owned by the exhibitor or someone directly related, except in the case of a leased horse. All youth must hold a current ABRA Youth Membership Card to exhibit in ABRA approved Youth classes. This membership does not include voting privilege.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="font_8">All annual memberships are based on a calendar year and expire on December 31st of each year.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="font_8">Memberships must be in the exact name in which you intend to register horses.</p>

Youth

A youth membership is designated for members under age 19.

3-Year: $55
5-Year: $90

Membership Type & Fees

<p class="font_8">Issued in two (2) names of a husband and wife, mother and daughter or son; father and daughter or son 18 years and under. In the event the surnames are not the same, documentation designating status shall be furnished to the Association with the application.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">All annual memberships are based on a calendar year and expire on December 31st of each year.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">Memberships must be in the exact name in which you intend to register horses.</p>

Joint

Issued in two (2) names of a husband and wife, mother and daughter or son; father and daughter or son 18 years and under.

1-Year: $50
3-Year: $145
5-Year: $240

Membership Type & Fees

<p class="font_8">Issued to a Ranch, Farm, Corporation, etc. No individual privileges are included in this membership. Authorized one (1) vote only and the individual with voting status for this membership to be on file with the Association.&nbsp;</p>

Membership Type & Fees

<p class="font_8">Lifetime membership is for one (1) person under the Individual Membership status for the life of the member.</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">&nbsp;If you would like to have a life membership, but want to exhibit in the amateur division, you may obtain a general life membership and upgrade it to amateur status either every one (1), three (3) or five (5) years. Amateur upgrades are $20 for one year or $55 for three years.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">If you have purchased a general membership but need an amateur card, an upgrade will work for you as well.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_8"><br></p>
<p class="font_8">An upgrade can be submitted at a show (an extra $5 charge is applied to the upgrade cost). The amateur application, completed and signed, is required with the fee. Memberships must be in the exact name in which you intend to register horses.</p>

Lifetime

Lifetime membership is for one (1) person under the Individual Membership status for the life of the member.
