How the ABRA Recreational Riding Program Works
The ABRA Recreational Riding Program was designed to shine a spotlight on everyday riders who put in the hours to build strong partnerships with their horses. Recreational riding includes trail riding, relaxed arena time, pleasure lessons, and clinics not intended for show-ring preparation.
This program is based on trust, simplicity, and inclusion. Riders log their own hours on the honor system, and ABRA welcomes members of all ages, levels, and backgrounds to take part. The program rewards consistency and celebrates progress, with achievement certificates and milestone awards at 200, 300, 400, and 500 hours.
Show horses often get the spotlight, but this program recognizes the horses who quietly carry their riders through countless miles, lessons, and experiences that truly build confidence and connection.
