The ABRA Recreational Riding Program is a unique opportunity for members to gain recognition for the time they spend riding for enjoyment. As part of her ambassador duties, ABRA Jr. Youth Ambassador Ollie Pear Montgomery is proud to promote this program and encourage riders of all ages to participate.

What is the ABRA Recreational Riding Program?

The ABRA Recreational Riding Program was designed to recognize and reward members who enjoy time in the saddle outside of the show ring. The equine industry highly values well-seasoned, experienced trail horses, and this program highlights the importance of developing horses through consistent, recreational riding.

Recreational riding includes:

  • Trail riding

  • Arena riding for fun (not show prep)

  • Lessons that enhance recreational skills

  • Clinics without a competition focus

  • Ranch riding for enjoyment

How Members Benefit

Members log their recreational riding hours on the honor system, celebrating their progress and achievements throughout the year. Each participant receives a certificate of achievement, with special awards given as riders reach 200, 300, 400, and 500 hours of ride time.

The program is open to all ABRA members and their registered equines, regardless of age, skill level, or riding background.
