2026 Updates to the Buckskin Bred Program: What Owners Need to Know
In 2025, ABRA expanded the Buckskin Bred Program to include horses with Buckskin lineage further back in the pedigree. These changes — along with the Hardship Clause (REG124) — make the program more accessible than ever.
And in 2026, there’s a special Half-Price Buckskin Bred Hardship Registration offer for qualifying horses.
What Changed in the Buckskin Bred Hardship Registration Rules?
Key updates include:
• Horses with qualifying great-great Buckskin lineage (4th generation) may now register with proper verification
• Horses with white markings outside ABRA’s accepted limits may qualify under the Hardship Clause
• Hardship registration applies to horses such as Paints, Pintos, and Appaloosas
• BBP foals born before December 31 are not eligible
• BBP horses are not eligible for Weanling Work Orders (WWO)
These updates allow more owners to showcase horses with Buckskin heritage without requiring ABRA-ideal color.
2026 Half-Price Fees for Hardship Horses
For 2026 only:
💛 Member Rate: $100
💛 Non-Member Rate: $140
This is the ideal time to register eligible horses and get them in the ABRA system.
