Did you know ABRA has a Walk-Trot Division for Amateurs?

Yes! The ABRA offers Walk-Trot classes for Amateur riders. Walk-Trot is an excellent avenue for the new competitor to start showing and gain confidence in the show pen. As most of us amateur competitors know, the lope can be a difficult gait to master. It takes a lot feel and for some horses, a lot of leg!

So if you been holding off getting in the show pen due to that lope, here is a perfect start for you! Enjoy the thrill of competition and the camaraderie of the show atmosphere in the ABRA Walk-Trot classes.

Classes offered are:

  • Amateur W/T Showmanship at Halter. To be judged in the same manner as Amateur Showmanship at Halter. Pattern will be a walk/trot pattern.

  • Amateur W/T Western Pleasure. To be judged the same as Amateur Western Pleasure, omitting the lope.

  • Amateur W/T Western Horsemanship. To be judged the same as Amateur Western Horsemanship, omitting the lope. Exhibitors shall not be asked to drop stirrups.

  • Amateur W/T Hunter Under Saddle. To be judged the same as Amateur Hunter Under Saddle, omitting the canter and hand gallop. It is required that the exhibitor wears appropriate protective headgear with chin strap under chin.

  • Amateur W/T Hunt Seat Equitation. To be judged the same as Amateur Hunt Seat Equitation, omitting the canter, hand gallop, and riding without irons. It is required that the exhibitor wears appropriate protective headgear.

  • Amateur W/T Trail. To be judged the same as Amateur Trail omitting the lope.
